We will only keep your personal data for as long as we need to in order to carry out the job we had collected it for in the first place.
But we need to make sure we keep everything long enough in case we get any questions or complaints about the benefits we pay, or our administration of the pension fund.
So in practice, this means that we will keep your personal data long enough so that we can...
- Work out your own pension benefits when you draw them
- Pay you those benefits – in many cases for the rest of your life
- Work out and pay pension benefits to your dependants or beneficiaries
And to be on the safe side, we will keep your data for at least 15 years after those benefits have stopped being paid. For the same reason, your personal data may also need to be kept, even after you have received a transfer, or refund, from GMPF.
