As working people, most of us pay into the State Pension through our National Insurance. A new flat rate State Pension has been introduced for people who were under State Pension age on 6 April 2016. This has replaced the old basic and additional State Pension.
Company pension scheme
Greater Manchester Pension Fund is an example of this. Your employer pays into this too.
Personal Pension or Stakeholder Pension
You normally arrange this through a bank or building society. The level of benefits depends on how well the investment performs and your employer is unlikely to pay into it.
