The Local Authority Pension Fund Forum (LAPFF) is a collaborative shareholder engagement group of local authority pension funds which promotes the highest standards of corporate governance and responsibility by engaging directly with company chairs and boards to affect change at investee companies. LAPFF brings together members’ assets exceeding £350bn and recognises the role of responsible investors to also engage with other stakeholders such as employees and local communities to understand their views on a company’s behaviour and risks. This helps ensure LAPFF and its members can safeguard the value of pension funds that support hundreds of thousands of people in retirement. Through its membership of LAPFF and direct representation on the LAPFF executive committee, GMPF is able to play an active role in shaping engagement policy for the Forum and company engagements. LAPFF publishes an annual report to highlight its ongoing work.
