Over 176,000 GMPF members have already made a death grant nomination to tell us who they would like us to pay should a death grant payment be due when they die. If you’ve not done yours yet, or if you’ve not reviewed your nomination for a while, it’s easy to do. Just log into your My Pension account and fill in the details.

We take our responsibility for looking after your pension and the pension promises of all our members very seriously. Greater Manchester Pension Fund (GMPF) must look after your pension, and we must also look after the Fund’s assets for our employers and taxpayers, who underwrite the pension promises of all our members.
Since 2011, GMPF has been a voluntary signatory of the Financial Reporting Council’s (FRC) UK Stewardship Code, which is designed to set high stewardship standards for those investing money on behalf of UK savers and pensioners and enhance the quality of engagement between institutional investors and companies.
GMPF must demonstrate its stewardship activities on an annual basis to keep its signatory status. The GMPF stewardship code is available to read as part of our Stewardship Code article.
The Government changed the pension scheme rules in October 2023 following a legal ruling known as the ‘McCloud Remedy’. These changes will only affect the pension benefits of a small number of our members. You do not need to do anything - we will send you information in the future if these changes affect your benefits.
